Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti

Shiv Jayanti, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Birth Anniversary, is a festival and public holiday of the Indian state of Maharashtra. This festival is celebrated on February 19, celebrating the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the first Chhatrapati of the Marathas. He established Hindavi Swarajya. Some people celebrate this day as per Hindu Calendar in Maharashtra. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born in 1630, on 19th February, within the fortress of Shivneri, situated near Junnar in present-day Maharashtra, India. His father, Shahaji Bhosale, was a prominent Maratha general who served the Deccan Sultanates, while his mother, Jijabai, was a devout and influential figure known for her strong personality and unwavering commitment to her son’s upbringing.

Yashwantrao Chavan English medium school celebrated the Shivaji Jayanti in a grand manner at the school premises. Our respected principal ma’am Mrs. Lakshmi Arun with all the staff of YCEMS lit the candle and paid floral tribute to Shivaji Maharaj. Shivaji Maharaj was a great warrior. He was a king, visionary, a great administrator, economist and a compassionate but a fierce patriot for his sheer love for country.
