Bal Gangadhar Tilak was an Indian nationalist, educator, scholar, philosopher, mathematician, and freedom fighter. He was called ‘Lokmanya,’ which means ‘accepted as the people’s leader.’ Lokmanya Tilak is considered as the first leader of the Indian freedom movement. Unfortunately on this day on August 1920, India lost a legendary personality, a great human being and a leading freedom fighter who said: “Swarajya is my birthright and I shall have it !” Tilak ji founded the Shri Shivaji Fund Committee for the celebration of “Shiv Jayanti “, the birth anniversary of the great king Shivaji.
