Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule (1827-1890), commonly known as Mahatma Phule, was a 19th-century Indian social reformer, thinker, and activist from Maharashtra. He is widely regarded as a pioneer of women’s education in India and a champion of social justice for marginalized communities. He is also known for his work against caste discrimination and his advocacy for the rights of lower castes.
